If you’ve been to a shopping mall, you know how vast the parking lots can be. More importantly, when you leave the mall, you’ve likely experienced the frustration of trying to locate your vehicle. Some resort to turning on their car alarm, while others wander for minutes while holding their bags. If you have the privilege of owning a Tesla, this situation may not be as big a deal for you. Continue reading for steps on how to see the location of your Tesla.

Seeing the Location of Your Tesla

Simply open your Tesla mobile app and hit Location. You’ll see the name or address of where the car is located at the top of the screen, as well as a map showing exactly where the vehicle is, relative to its surroundings.

NOTE: At the bottom of the screen, the app will display nearby chargers. You can sort by distance or availability, as well as toggle the charging speed capabilities to change your view so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

At the top right of the map, there are a few symbols you can tap:

  • Right-Turn Arrow: By hitting this button, you’ll be directed to your phone’s default maps app. It will automatically put the exact location of your Tesla as the destination, so you can navigate to the car.
  • Arrow Pointing North: Resets the map back to its default position. For example, if you zoom in or out, or swipe to see the surrounding areas, you can tap this button to take you back to where you’re parked on the map.
  • Globe Icon: Changes the view from the standard Tesla maps to a satellite view that includes renderings of buildings, parking lot layouts, and more.

Mobile App

What else can the mobile app help with? See below:

  • Lock or unlock the car, and being able to see the live location of your Tesla at all times.
  • Heating or cooling the cabin climate. This is especially important when preconditioning the vehicle for driving, which should always be done no matter if it’s hot or cold.
  • Checking the car’s charging information such as battery percentage, statistics for charging, opening and closing the charge port, changing the charge limit, and more.
  • Viewing the live cameras for Sentry Mode and toggling overall security settings for the vehicle itself.
  • Other convenient features include opening the front trunk, slightly opening the windows with the vent feature, viewing the odometer as well as the VIN, and much more.
