The new Tesla Model 3, often referred to as the Highland Model 3, has delivered a fantastic experience to many thus far. Several subtle upgrades were made that add up to an improved ownership experience. One of these new additions was the introduction of LED strip lighting throughout the interior of the car. Continue reading for steps on how to adjust the LED lights in the refreshed Tesla Model 3.
How to Change the Colour
Tesla calls this new feature accent lighting. In just a few short steps, you can adjust the colour with ease. When in your Tesla, use the touchscreen, hit Controls > Lights and then look for the Accent Lights section. Once there, you can choose from one of four options:
- Off: This will turn the LED lighting off. You may want to do this if the light is bothering you, or if you’re just not a fan of the look.
- On: As you may have guessed, this will keep the lights on at whatever colour you choose.
- Auto: Tesla will automatically rotate the available colours for you in this setting. Owners like to go with this option as they can filter through different colours, which keeps it something new to look forward to each time.
- Button on the Right: If you hit this button, it’ll open another view where you can choose any solid colour, or use a colour gradient to select exactly what you want. If you pair this with the On option above, you can always have it configured to what you need.
Where Are the LED Lights Located?
The lights run through each door of the car, which is a nice touch as they’ll always be noticeable when anyone is entering your vehicle. They also wrap around the front of the dashboard area, which completes the look.
NOTE: This feature is only available in the refreshed Model 3, meaning it’s for ones that were manufactured in 2024 or later for North America. If you have an older version of the vehicle, unfortunately it will lack this capability, unless of course you have it done by a third party.
Tesla has a rendering of where the lights are which acts as a useful visual. You can also do a quick search of the Model 3 Highland interior online and you’ll be able to find out how it looks.
The Bottom Line
The steps on how to adjust the LED lights in the refreshed Tesla Model 3 are simple. When in your vehicle, tap Controls > Lights and then look for the Accent Lights section. Once there, you can either choose to keep them on, off, or on auto which will rotate between different options automatically. Lastly, you can tap the button on the right and then choose exactly what colour you’d like.
