Tesla has done many things to incentivize the purchase of their vehicles over the years. A particularly popular one was the introduction of Free Supercharging Kilometres. For example, if you took delivery of a Tesla during one of these promotional periods, you would receive a certain kilometre amount of Supercharging that you could use for free, which is a huge perk for many. Free Supercharging Transfers

The ability to transfer free Supercharging credits to another vehicle or owner depends completely on Tesla’s policy at the time. It’s best to check the Tesla Support page for the latest update on their ruling around Supercharging transfers at any given time.

Historically, these transfers have not been possible when purchasing a new or used vehicle directly from their site, as an existing Tesla owner. However, as mentioned above, there are times when they will allow transfers to be made if you’re buying one new from their site. These are typically limited-time promotions, where Tesla will provide a date range in which you need to take delivery of your new car to be eligible for the transfer.

NOTE: If you’re selling your Tesla used to another owner, the free Supercharging will be removed and not carried over to the new owner. Be sure to communicate this in the selling process, as you don’t want them to be caught off guard by this.

How to Get Free Supercharging Kilometres

To get free Supercharging, you can:

1. Refer and Earn: Each time you refer someone who purchases a Tesla, you collect credits. Those credits can then be redeemed for different perks such as free Supercharging kilometres. To refer someone, simply open the app, tap the three lines at the top right of the screen and then hit Refer and Earn. Lastly, hit Get Started and then send your link to whoever is interested in buying.
2. Keep an Eye Out for Tesla Promotions: The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer typically displays any promotions they have running on the front page of their site as well as on the order page for any of their models. During certain times they may offer a set amount of kilometres for free Supercharging when you take delivery of a new model.

NOTE: It’s best to reach out to an advisor at your nearest Tesla Service Center to see if there are any ongoing promotions at the time.
